2017–2018 Acura RDX Flat-4 Wiring Installation
Output: Flat-4 trailer-light connector
Connection method: Plugs into the RDX factory tow-wiring connector; location varies with the cargo-panel configuration
Power: Vehicle fuse provision is completed as required
Final connector location: Stored inside the spare-tire or rear cargo area when not in use; routed beneath the hatch only while towing

The 2017–2018 RDX provides a factory trailer-wiring connector in the rear cargo area. Depending on the vehicle’s trim-panel configuration, the plug is reached through the driver-side access panel or beneath the passenger-side floor spacer near the rear seat.
1. Disconnecting Power and Opening the Cargo Area
The negative battery terminal is isolated before the cargo floor and required rear trim pieces are removed. Clips and spacers are released with trim tools so they can be reinstalled without distortion.
2. Locating the Correct Factory Connector
Vehicles with a driver-side access panel place the tow plug behind that panel. Vehicles without it require removal of the cargo lid, spare, passenger-side clips, and floor spacer to reach the connector near the back seat. The harness is matched by connector shape and locking tab.
3. Connecting and Securing the Converter
The vehicle-specific plug is seated until its lock engages. The converter is secured on a clean, protected surface where the cargo floor and stored equipment cannot press against it.
4. Completing the Fuse Provision and Interior Storage
The required trailer-tow fuse is installed in the designated under-hood position when needed. The flat-4 is rolled and stored in the spare-tire or cargo-floor compartment between uses, then routed beneath the hatch seal only while towing.
5. Testing and Restoring the Vehicle
Running lights, brake lights, left turn, right turn, and ground integrity are checked at the flat-4. The trim, cargo floor, spare, battery connection, and retained hardware are then restored.
