2017–2020 Acura MDX Flat-4 Wiring Installation

Output: Flat-4 trailer-light connector
Connection method: Plugs into the factory junction box behind the driver-side rear access panel
Power and protection: Vehicle fuse positions and the harness fuse holder are populated as specified
Final connector location: Stored inside the rear cargo area when not in use; routed beneath the hatch only while towing
Testing: Every flat-4 lighting function is checked before trim is restored

The MDX provides a dedicated trailer-wiring connection behind the driver-side rear access panel. The harness uses that factory receptacle, a local chassis ground, and the specified fuse positions to activate a protected flat-4 output.

1. Opening the Driver-Side Cargo Access

The storage lid and driver-side rear access panel are removed to expose the electrical junction box. Surrounding trim is protected so the panel clips and finished surfaces are not marked.

2. Connecting at the Factory Junction Box

The harness connector is routed beneath the trim and seated in the matching factory receptacle. The connector lock is verified so it cannot loosen behind the panel after reassembly.

3. Completing the Fuse and Ground Connections

The required low-profile fuses are installed in the specified junction-box positions, and the harness fuse is placed in its holder. The ground ring is secured to clean structural metal at an approved point near the module.

4. Securing the Converter and Interior Flat-4

The converter is mounted on a clean, protected surface away from cargo movement and trim-panel pressure. The flat-4 is rolled and stored inside the cargo area. When towing, it crosses the threshold and exits beneath the hatch seal, clear of the latch.

5. Function Testing and Reassembly

Running lights, brake lights, both turn signals, and ground integrity are verified at the connector before the access panel, storage lid, and retained trim are restored.
