The redesigned Palisade does not yet use the earlier model’s plug-in harness. The CURT 59236 kit uses a sealed, powered converter that is professionally connected to the verified rear-light circuits and supplied by a fuse-protected battery lead. The system is installed without loading the vehicle’s lighting circuits and is tested at the trailer connector before reassembly.

Connector Location: The finished 4-way flat connector is routed outside the vehicle and secured beside the hitch for ready access; it is not stored loose inside the cargo area.

1. Verifying the Vehicle and Lighting Signals

Rear-light operation is documented and the Palisade’s stop, turn, and running-light circuits are identified with proper test equipment before any connection is made.

2. Protecting the Vehicle and Opening Rear Access

The negative battery cable is isolated and the required rear trim and lamp access points are opened carefully so the lighting circuits can be reached without damaging clips, seals, or painted surfaces.

3. Installing the Powered Converter

The CURT 59236 converter is mounted in a protected location. Its input leads are connected to the verified lighting circuits, and the ground is secured to clean vehicle metal.

4. Routing Fuse-Protected Battery Power

The included power lead is routed safely to the battery with the required 15-amp fuse protection, supported away from exhaust heat, moving components, sharp edges, and pinch points.

5. Positioning the 4-Flat, Testing, and Reassembly

The 4-way output is routed outside to the hitch and secured for convenient trailer connection. Running lights, brake lights, both turn signals, and ground integrity are tested before all removed components are restored.
