Hyundai Santa Fe (2019–2020) Flat-4 Wiring Installation

Hyundai Santa Fe with installed trailer hitch

Vehicle Coverage: 2019–2020 Hyundai Santa Fe
CURT Harness: 56420
Output: 4-Way Flat
Connection: OEM rear trailer-wiring socket
Installation Time: Up to 30 minutes

The CURT 56420 plugs into the vehicle's OEM rear socket without cutting or splicing factory wires. Its circuit-protected powered converter provides the standard 4-way trailer-light output.

Connector Location: The trailer connector is routed outside the vehicle and secured beside the hitch for ready access; it is not stored loose inside the cargo area.

1. Disconnecting Vehicle Power

The negative battery terminal is isolated and the rear-light functions are documented before work begins.

2. Opening the Rear Underbody Access Area

The driver-side rear protective panel is removed as needed to expose the factory trailer-wiring connector.

3. Connecting at the OEM Socket

The protective cap is removed and the CURT connector is seated fully until the locking tabs engage.

4. Securing the Converter and 4-Flat

The converter is mounted on a protected clean surface and the 4-flat is routed neatly to the hitch away from heat and moving parts.

5. Testing and Reassembly

The specified fuse and battery connection are restored, every trailer-light function is tested, and the underbody panel is reinstalled.
