The CURT 56184 connects behind both taillights and powers trailer lamps through a protected converter rather than loading the vehicle's lighting circuits directly.

Connector Location: The trailer connector remains inside the rear cargo area for protected storage when not in use and is pulled through the hatch only when needed.

1. Preparing the Cargo Area

Rear cargo-floor pieces and the scuff panel are removed carefully to reach both taillight access paths.

2. Opening Both Taillight Connections

The lamps are released and the factory connectors are separated without damaging their locking tabs.

3. Installing the T-Connectors and Converter

The driver- and passenger-side harness branches are connected, the module is mounted inside a protected area, and the ground is secured.

4. Routing the Fused Power Lead

The battery feed is supported away from heat, sharp edges, and moving parts and is fused at the battery connection.

5. Final Testing and Reassembly

The 4-flat output and all vehicle lighting functions are tested before every lamp, grommet, and trim panel is restored.
