Kia Sportage (2023–2025) Flat-4 Wiring Installation

The 2023–2025 Sportage uses a vehicle-specific powered converter harness connected behind both taillights. We disconnect vehicle power, remove and reconnect the rear lamps with protected T-connectors, secure the converter and ground, route a fused 12-gauge power lead safely to the battery, position the 4-flat at the hitch, test every lighting function, and restore the vehicle.
Vehicle Coverage: 2023–2025 Kia Sportage
Connection: Vehicle-specific taillight T-connectors
Output: 4-Way Flat
Installation Time: Up to 1.5 hours

1. Disconnecting Power and Opening Rear Lamp Access
The negative battery terminal is disconnected and isolated before the vehicle lighting circuits are opened. Rear lamp trim covers and retaining hardware are removed carefully to expose both taillight connectors without damaging the lamps or body finish.

2. Removing Both Taillights and Preparing Harness Paths
Both taillights are pulled rearward and their factory connectors are released without damaging the locking tabs. Protected paths are prepared between the lamp cavities and rear bumper area so the harness branches can be routed cleanly.

3. Connecting Driver- and Passenger-Side T-Connectors
The yellow-wire branch is connected between the driver-side factory harness and lamp. The green-wire branch is secured above the bumper structure, routed to the passenger side, and connected at the corresponding taillight circuit.

4. Securing the Converter, Ground, and Battery Power
The powered converter is mounted on a protected flat surface and the ground is secured to clean vehicle metal. A fused 12-gauge power lead is routed safely to the battery, supported away from heat, movement, pinch points, and sharp edges.

5. Routing the 4-Flat, Testing, and Reassembly
The 4-flat is positioned neatly at the hitch and loose wiring is secured. The specified fuse is installed only after the remaining connections are complete; running lights, brake lights, both turn signals, and ground integrity are tested before the taillights, trim, and battery connection are restored.
