2019–2025 Acura RDX Flat-4 Wiring Installation
Output: Flat-4 trailer-light connector
Connection method: Vehicle-specific connection at the factory tow plug behind the driver-side cargo trim
Power: Uses the equipped rear fuse provision when available; otherwise receives a dedicated fuse-protected battery supply
Final connector location: Stored inside the rear cargo area when not in use; routed beneath the hatch only while towing
Testing: All trailer-light outputs are verified before cargo trim is restored
The 2019–2025 RDX tow plug sits behind the driver-side cargo trim. Reaching it requires removal of the cargo floor, tie-downs, threshold, tray, seat-release trim, and a small steel bracket. Some RDX models provide trailer power at the rear fuse box; others require a protected power lead to the battery.
1. Opening the Cargo Floor and Threshold
The rear seats are folded, the cargo floor is removed, and the four floor tie-downs are released. The cargo tray and threshold are lifted with trim tools so their clips are not bent or broken.
2. Reaching the Driver-Side Factory Tow Plug
The steel bracket below the threshold and the driver-side seat-release trim are removed. The side panel is eased back only far enough to expose the white factory tow connector, and the lighting module is locked into that plug.
3. Selecting the Correct Power Method
The rear fuse provision is tested for trailer power. When equipped, the specified fuse positions are completed. If the provision is not powered, a dedicated lead is routed to the battery with a single correctly sized fuse, protected from exhaust heat, moving parts, and sharp edges.
4. Mounting the Module and Storing the Flat-4
The converter is secured epoxy-side down on a clean, protected surface. The flat-4 remains inside the cargo area when not in use and is routed out beneath the hatch seal only while towing.
5. Testing and Reassembly
Running lights, brake lights, both turn signals, and ground integrity are tested before the bracket, side trim, threshold, tray, tie-downs, and cargo floor are restored.
