Audi Q5 (2018–2025 Previous Body Style) Standard Hitch Installation

Installed Stealth hidden hitch on a second-generation Audi Q5

Vehicle coverage: 2018–2024 Audi Q5, 2025 second-generation Q5, and 2018–2025 SQ5; plug-in hybrid excluded
Receiver: Fixed 2-inch receiver
Finished appearance: Receiver remains visible below the bumper; main cross tube is tucked behind the fascia
Installation: Rear fascia and reinforcement removal; factory body mounting points
Trailer wiring: Not offered with the standard receiver; Audi wiring is installed only with a compatible Stealth passive towing package

A fixed 2-inch receiver for the second-generation Q5. It is the practical lower-cost option when a permanently visible receiver is acceptable.

The receiver mounts behind the Q5’s bumper structure, so the installation requires substantially more access than the finished appearance suggests.

1. Protecting the vehicle and opening the cargo area

Rear lights, sensors, liftgate operation, and bumper alignment are documented. The cargo threshold and side trim are opened to reach the concealed bumper hardware without damaging finished panels.

2. Removing the rear fascia

Wheel-arch trim, liners, taillights, lower fasteners, and rear electrical connections are released in the correct order. The bumper cover is removed and stored on a protected surface.

3. Opening the structural mounting points

The factory reinforcement and retained brackets are removed as required. Body threads, hardware, heat shielding, and mounting surfaces are inspected before the receiver is raised.

4. Installing the receiver behind the bumper

The hitch and retained factory structure are aligned at the body mounting points. New structural hardware is started by hand, tightened evenly, and torqued to specification before the fascia returns.

5. Reassembly and final clearance check

All sensors, electrical connectors, taillights, trim, liners, and cargo panels are restored. Panel gaps, lighting, parking sensors, liftgate operation, receiver alignment, exhaust clearance, and safety-chain access are verified.

Fixed receiver. The receiver remains below the bumper at all times. Choose the hidden counterpart if preserving the original appearance between uses is the priority.

Wiring is not offered with this standard receiver. The only Audi trailer wiring we install is the compatible Stealth passive tow-kit wiring supplied as part of a Stealth towing package. We do not install or program Audi's active factory-style harnesses.
