Honda Odyssey (2018–Present) Hitch Installation

Honda Odyssey hitch installation may require removing underbody panels and heat shields, cleaning the factory weld-nut mounting points, and routing additional hardware inside the frame rails. The passenger side is positioned over the exhaust first before the hitch is aligned, secured, and torqued. Removed trim and shielding are reinstalled and the finished hitch is checked for clearance and alignment.
Vehicle Towing Capacity: Up to 3,500 lbs (when properly equipped)
Hitch Tongue Rating: 525 lbs

1. Preparing the Underbody Mounting Area
The Odyssey’s rear underbody is inspected and the necessary covers or heat shielding are removed for access. Factory mounting points are identified and cleaned so the hitch hardware can seat correctly.

2. Preparing the Factory Frame Mounts
The factory weldnuts are cleaned and checked before installation. Where the hitch design requires additional frame hardware, specialized pull wires guide it through the enclosed rail without unnecessary drilling.

3. Positioning the Hitch Above the Exhaust
The passenger side of the receiver is maneuvered carefully over the exhaust first, then the remaining mounting points are raised into alignment. Nearby bodywork and exhaust components are protected throughout positioning.

4. Securing and Torquing the Receiver
Vehicle-specific hardware is started at every mounting point and tightened evenly so the hitch seats squarely against the frame. Each fastener is then torqued to the hitch manufacturer’s specification.

5. Restoring Panels and Checking Clearance
Removed shielding and underbody trim are restored, and the finished installation is inspected for receiver alignment, mounting security, and proper clearance around the exhaust and surrounding components.
