Honda Pilot (2022) Trailer Wiring Installation
The 2022 Honda Pilot uses a vehicle-specific plug-in trailer-wiring connector behind the driver-side rear cargo trim. The cargo floor, rear scuff panel, and necessary trim are removed carefully to reach the factory connector. The powered converter is connected and grounded, the required inline and tow-circuit fuses are installed, and the 4-flat is routed for protected storage before every lighting function is tested and the interior is reassembled.

1. Disconnecting Power and Clearing the Cargo Area
The negative battery terminal is disconnected before the rear seats are folded and the cargo floor coverings and storage trays are removed. This protects the vehicle and provides organized access to the rear trim.
2. Opening the Driver-Side Rear Trim
The rear seat trim, center scuff panel, cargo holder, and necessary driver-side fasteners are removed carefully. The side trim is eased outward to expose the Pilot’s factory trailer-wiring connector.
3. Connecting the Harness, Converter, and Ground
The vehicle-specific harness is seated fully in the factory connector, and the powered converter is secured inside the protected cargo area. Its ground is attached to a clean, solid chassis point for reliable lighting operation.
4. Installing the Required Fuses
The converter’s inline fuse and the required tow-circuit fuse in the engine-compartment fuse box are installed in the correct locations. Each fuse position is verified for the 2022 Pilot before power is restored.
5. Routing, Testing, and Reassembly
The 4-flat lead is routed to the center of the cargo area for use and protected storage. Running lights, brake lights, both turn signals, and ground integrity are tested before the battery, trim panels, cargo trays, and dust cover are restored.
