Toyota Grand Highlander (2024–Present) Hitch Installation

The Grand Highlander includes factory weldnuts in the frame rails. Protective plugs are removed, two installers raise and align the hitch, and high-grade horizontal mounting hardware is torqued to specification. The job generally requires no exhaust lowering, fishwiring, or bumper-fascia removal.

1. Exposing the Factory Mounting Points
We remove the protective plastic plugs from the outer sides of the rear frame rails to expose the Grand Highlander’s factory weldnuts. The removed plugs are kept and returned to the vehicle owner after installation.

2. Preparing the Frame-Mounted Hardware
The mounting locations and vehicle-specific hardware are checked before the receiver is lifted. The Grand Highlander’s side-mounted factory weldnuts eliminate the need to fishwire hardware through the frame rails.

3. Two-Person Hitch Positioning
Because the hitch bolts attach horizontally into the sides of the frame, two installers raise and hold the receiver in position while the first bolts are started. This controlled lift protects the vehicle and keeps the hitch aligned with the factory mounting points.

4. Securing and Torquing the Receiver
High-grade mounting hardware and conical-toothed washers are installed to maintain proper clamping force against the frame. Every fastener is tightened to the hitch manufacturer’s torque specification.

5. Fitment and Clearance Inspection
We verify receiver alignment, secure mounting, and a clean finished appearance. The Grand Highlander design generally allows the installation to be completed without lowering the exhaust or removing the rear bumper fascia.
