Highlander trailer wiring requires careful removal of rear cargo and third-row trim to access the factory wiring connections. A powered converter module is installed and grounded inside the vehicle, then the trailer connector is routed toward the hitch. The system is fully tested before all interior panels are reinstalled.

1. Careful Interior Access
We carefully remove the rear cargo-area and third-row trim panels needed to reach the Highlander’s factory wiring connections. The panels and fasteners are handled methodically so the interior can be restored cleanly after the electrical work is complete.
2. Factory Wiring Connection
The vehicle-specific trailer-wiring harness is connected at the Highlander’s factory wiring points. Using the correct connections keeps the installation organized and avoids unnecessary alteration of the vehicle’s original wiring.
3. Powered Converter and Ground
A powered converter module is installed inside the rear trim area, secured against movement, and connected to the vehicle’s grounding point. The module manages trailer-light demand while helping isolate the Highlander’s factory lighting circuits.
4. Clean Connector Routing
The flat-4 trailer connector is routed through the rear of the vehicle and secured near the hitch receiver. The finished position keeps it convenient for trailer hookup while maintaining a clean appearance when it is not in use.
5. Circuit Testing and Reassembly
We test the completed system for proper running-light, brake-light, and turn-signal operation. After the wiring passes inspection, the cargo-area and third-row trim panels are carefully reinstalled and the work area is checked for a factory-like finish.
