Honda CR-V (2017–Present) Hitch Installation

The 2017+ Honda CR-V hitch installation requires lowering the exhaust, routing hardware through enclosed frame channels, and carefully trimming the lower fascia for receiver clearance. The hitch is aligned at the factory mounting points, secured with vehicle-specific hardware, and torqued to specification. Exhaust clearance, trim fitment, and receiver alignment are checked during final reassembly.
Vehicle Towing Capacity: Up to 1,500 lbs (gas models; hybrid models vary)
Hitch Tongue Rating: 525 lbs
Installation Time: Up to 1.5 hours

1. Lowering and Supporting the Exhaust
The rear exhaust is released from its rubber isolators and supported carefully. This creates the room needed to reach the CR-V’s frame rails and raise the receiver without stressing the exhaust system.

2. Accessing the Enclosed Frame Channels
Factory access points in the frame are identified and prepared for the vehicle-specific mounting hardware. The surrounding underbody is protected while we establish a clean path through the enclosed rails.

3. Fishwiring the Mounting Hardware
Specialized pull wires guide the carriage bolts and reinforcement plates through the CR-V’s frame channels and into their mounting positions. This allows secure use of the factory frame structure without unnecessary drilling.

4. Trimming the Lower Fascia for Clearance
A small section of the lower fascia is measured and trimmed where required for receiver clearance. The opening is kept precise and confined to the underside so the finished installation remains clean.

5. Raising, Torquing, and Inspecting the Hitch
The hitch is raised into place, aligned with the installed hardware, and tightened evenly before every fastener is torqued to specification. The exhaust is restored and checked for clearance, and receiver alignment and trim fitment receive a final inspection.
