Kia Sorento (2021–2025) Hitch Installation

The Sorento uses factory frame mounts but may require removal of an underbody cover, lowering the spare tire, and temporarily lowering the exhaust. The hitch is raised above the passenger-side exhaust, aligned with factory weldnuts, secured, and torqued. All removed components are restored and checked for clearance.
Towing Capacity: Up to 3,500 lbs (when properly equipped)
Tongue Weight: 600 lbs
Installation Time: Up to 1 hour

1. Preparing the Underbody and Spare Tire
We inspect the Sorento’s rear underbody and remove the necessary plastic cover when equipped. Models carrying a spare beneath the vehicle have the spare lowered to create safe working room around the frame and receiver area.

2. Lowering and Supporting the Exhaust
The rear exhaust is released from its rubber isolators and supported carefully. This creates the clearance needed to maneuver the hitch above the passenger-side exhaust without stressing the exhaust system.

3. Positioning the Hitch at the Factory Mounts
The receiver is raised into place and aligned with the Sorento’s factory weldnuts. We protect the surrounding bodywork and exhaust while positioning the hitch so every mounting point starts cleanly.

4. Securing and Torquing the Hardware
Vehicle-specific mounting hardware is installed at the factory frame locations and tightened evenly. Each fastener is then torqued to the hitch manufacturer’s specification for a secure, correctly seated installation.

5. Reassembly and Final Clearance Check
The exhaust, spare tire, and any removed underbody panels are restored. We finish by checking receiver alignment, mounting security, and clearance around the exhaust to help prevent contact or rattles.
