Kia Sorento (2021–2025) Flat-4 Wiring Installation

The Sorento’s wiring method depends on whether the vehicle has the factory tow package. Tow-prepped models use the factory connector near the rear bumper, while other models use vehicle-specific connections at both taillights with a powered converter and dedicated power lead. We confirm the vehicle configuration, route and secure the correct harness, protect the 4-flat at the hitch, test every lighting circuit, and carefully reassemble the vehicle.
With Factory Tow Package: Up to 30 additional minutes
Without Factory Tow Package: Up to 1.5 additional hours

1. Confirming the Wiring Configuration and Disconnecting Power
We verify whether the Sorento has the factory tow package and confirm the correct vehicle-specific harness for its taillight and trim configuration. The negative battery connection is isolated as required before electrical work begins.

2. Accessing the Factory or Taillight Connections
Tow-prepped models are opened at the factory connector near the driver-side rear bumper. On models without tow prep, both rear taillights are removed carefully and their factory connectors are separated without damaging the locking tabs.

3. Connecting and Routing the Vehicle-Specific Harness
The correct harness is seated fully in the factory connections. For taillight-connected systems, the left and right leads are routed behind the bumper with protected, controlled paths that keep the wiring away from sharp edges, heat, and moving parts.

4. Securing the Converter, Ground, and Power Supply
The lighting converter is mounted on a protected flat surface and the ground is secured to clean vehicle metal. When the selected harness requires a dedicated power lead, the fused power wire is routed safely to the specified under-hood power source.

5. Routing the 4-Flat, Testing, and Reassembly
The 4-flat connector is routed to a protected, accessible position beside the hitch and all loose wiring is secured. Running lights, brake lights, both turn signals, and ground integrity are tested before the taillights, bumper-area covers, battery connection, and other removed components are restored.
