Mazda CX-5 (2013–2025) Hitch Installation
The CX-5 installation requires exposing factory frame mounts, lowering the rear exhaust, and working around underbody panels and wiring. A combination of factory weldnuts and fishwired frame hardware secures the hitch. Removed components are restored and final checks confirm alignment and exhaust clearance.

1. Preparing the Rear Undercarriage
We remove any rear underbody panel that interferes with the receiver and expose the factory mounting points on the CX-5’s frame rails. Protective tape, seam sealer, plastic inserts, and nearby wiring clips are handled as required by the vehicle’s configuration.
2. Lowering the Exhaust for Access
The rear exhaust is temporarily lowered from its rubber hangers to create working room above it. This allows the hitch to move into position behind the bumper while maintaining clearance around the fascia and factory wiring.
3. Installing the Frame Hardware
The CX-5 uses factory weldnuts along with frame-mounted hardware. Where required, carriage bolts and spacer blocks are fishwired through the frame rails, and additional spacers are positioned to maintain proper hitch alignment.
4. Raising, Aligning, and Torquing the Hitch
The receiver is raised into place and the mounting hardware is installed. After alignment is confirmed, the fasteners are tightened to the hitch manufacturer’s torque specifications for a secure frame-mounted installation.
5. Restoring Components and Final Inspection
Factory wiring is re-secured, the exhaust is returned to its rubber hangers, and any underbody panels are restored. We finish by checking mounting security, receiver alignment, exhaust clearance, and the overall appearance.
