Mazda CX-50 (2023–Present) Flat-4 Wiring Installation

Rear cargo trim is removed to access both factory taillight connections, and a vehicle-specific harness is installed without cutting the factory wiring. A powered converter is mounted in a protected area, with dedicated battery power and a secure ground. The 4-flat stores inside the cargo area and is tested before reassembly.
Installation Time: Up to 1.5 additional hours

1. Accessing the Rear Cargo Wiring
We remove the rear scuff panel, cargo-area storage pieces, tie-downs, and the necessary side trim to reach the CX-50’s factory taillight connections. The panels and fasteners are organized for careful reassembly.

2. Plug-and-Play Taillight Connections
A vehicle-specific harness is connected inline at the factory taillight connectors on both sides of the CX-50. The plug-and-play connection avoids cutting or splicing the original taillight wiring.

3. Protected Interior Wire Routing
The harness is routed behind the interior panels and across the rear cargo area to connect both lighting circuits. The wiring is secured out of sight and kept away from moving components and exposed cargo areas.

4. Converter, Power, and Ground
A powered converter is mounted in a protected interior location, connected to a secure ground, and supplied by a dedicated power wire from the vehicle battery. This helps provide consistent trailer-light power without overloading the factory taillight circuits.

5. Testing, Reassembly, and Connector Storage
We verify running lights, brake lights, turn signals, and ground-circuit integrity before reinstalling the cargo trim and storage components. The flat-4 connector stores inside the rear cargo area when not in use, helping protect it from moisture and corrosion.
