We remove the CX-50’s center hitch-access panel and the lower mounting hardware around it. This exposes the structural bumper-support area where the receiver will pass through while preserving the removable factory panel.

A small section of the internal bumper support is carefully measured and trimmed with specialized cutting tools. The work stays behind the access-panel area, providing the necessary receiver clearance without compromising the clean factory-style appearance.

Protective tape is removed from the mounting points on the frame rails to expose the Mazda’s factory weldnuts. The mounting locations are inspected and prepared before the receiver is lifted into place.

The hitch is raised and aligned with the vehicle’s factory mounting points. Because the forward mounting positions can vary slightly by trim and factory configuration, alignment is checked carefully before the hardware is tightened.

High-grade mounting hardware is torqued to the manufacturer’s specification. We recheck the hardware, verify receiver alignment, and inspect the access-panel area so the finished hitch integrates cleanly with the rear bumper.
