Mazda CX-70 & CX-90 (2024–Present) Hitch Installation

Installation requires partial disassembly of the lower rear bumper, removable access panel, trim clips, and bumper-support components. Factory frame mounts are exposed and the hitch is carefully measured and aligned around wiring and sensors before being torqued. The factory access panel can generally be retained for a discreet finished appearance.

1. Opening the Lower Bumper Area
We remove the factory push fasteners, trim clips, and removable hitch-access panel beneath the rear bumper. This opens the lower bumper area carefully while preserving the pieces needed for a clean factory-like reassembly.

2. Exposing the Factory Mounting Points
Portions of the lower bumper-support structure are temporarily removed, and the protective adhesive coverings over the frame mounting points are opened. The factory locations are then inspected and prepared for the receiver.

3. Precise Hitch Positioning and Alignment
The hitch is raised behind the bumper while working around factory wiring, sensors, and bumper components. Because the CX-70 and CX-90 have tight tolerances, the side plates are measured and aligned within the required range before the hardware is tightened.

4. Securing the Hitch and Restoring Support
High-grade mounting hardware is installed and torqued to the hitch manufacturer’s specifications. The bumper-support brackets and lower support components are then carefully reinstalled to preserve proper bumper support and fitment.

5. Reassembly and Final Fitment Check
All trim panels and fasteners are restored, including the factory removable hitch-access panel whenever the receiver is not in use. We finish by checking receiver alignment, mounting security, bumper fitment, and the overall appearance.
