1. Preparing the Rear Undercarriage

We inspect the rear frame and bumper area, remove the factory plugs and hardware required for access, and prepare the mounting points. This careful setup protects nearby components and gives the hitch a clean path into position.

2. Working Around the Exhaust

The Highlander’s exhaust and surrounding components leave limited working room. We support and work around the exhaust as needed so the receiver can be positioned without forcing it against the rear fascia or damaging nearby parts.

3. Adjusting the Bumper-Support Tabs

Factory bumper-support tabs are adjusted as required for proper clearance. This vehicle-specific step helps the hitch sit correctly while keeping the rear bumper area aligned and avoiding unnecessary modification.

4. Raising and Aligning the Hitch

The receiver is raised carefully into place and aligned with the Highlander’s existing frame attachment points. We control the hitch during positioning to protect the fascia and ensure the mounting holes line up cleanly.

5. Securing, Torquing, and Final Inspection

Vehicle-specific hardware is installed and tightened to specification. We then confirm proper fitment, clearance, receiver alignment, and the condition of the surrounding bumper and exhaust components before the installation is complete.
